The artist Carl David Larsson was born February 16th 1894 in Stockholm. After elementary school and various employments, Larsson enrolled at university and took a degree in Engineering. In 1922, at the age of twenty-seven, he moved to Chicago, where he established himself as an artist in the advertising industry. While in Chicago he also changed his surname from Larsson to Ralson (by changing the order of the first three letters), and got married to Gun Camitz, a girl born in Gårdstaköp, Göteryd, Sweden (hence the connection to Göteryd).
In 1929 the Ralsons returned to Sweden and Stockholm, where David successfully continued his work as an artist in the advertising industry.
In 1936 Ralson acquired a farm at Holmseryd (Göteryd), and in 1953 he was given the honourable task of painting a new altar-piece for the newly restored Göteryd church. The altar-piece was much appreciated, and Ralson was engaged to make a vast number of monumental paintings in churches and other premises in Småland and Skåne. He continued his career as an artist until his death on June 6th 1984.
